Whisky and Wisdom’s Glenfarclas Edition 2

This single cask bottling of Glenfarclas – a 1st fill, European oak, sherry hogshead – was hand selected by Whisky & Wisdom at the distillery after an afternoon spent sampling from numerous hogsheads and butts in the distillery’s warehouses.   It is Whisky & Wisdom’s second bespoke bottling of Glenfarclas.

The whisky is 10 years old and has been bottled at its natural cask-strength of 59.8%.  The cask yielded 319 bottles, bottled exclusively for Whisky & Wisdom and available only in Australia.  It comes packaged in a Glenfarclas timber presentation box.

Tasting notes as follows:

Nose: Exceptionally rich, sweet, and beautifully spiced.  It’s crystal clean (no sulphur or dirty cask notes), and with strong notes of icing sugar, cherries, dried fruits (particularly raisins), fruit flan, currants and plums.

Palate: The whisky instantly delivers that classic, oloroso sweetness on to the palate: Rich Christmas cake notes, boozy prunes, toffee, butterscotch, malt, and oak.  A second wave of flavour follows bringing cloves, spices, cinnamon, and dates.  It’s complex and multi-layered…spend some time with this and you’ll be rewarded with an eternity of rich aromas and flavours.

Finish: Clean, strong, remains sweet (not a hint of bitterness, sappiness or tannins) and with a perfect length; it eventually trails away, leaving complete satisfaction.

Comments: An incredibly luxurious malt that harks back to whisky’s glory years.  The cleanest and finest spirit has combined and matured beautifully with the European oak to create an exceptional whisky with few peers in this age or price range.
